Okay, so recently in my music course I was challenged to learn a new instrument and over 10 hours this term I must practice and track my progress. I decided that since I own a ukulele and haven’t given it a go yet, I would try to engage myself in learning a new skill. I have committed myself to learning how to read music sheets as well as two songs before the end of term. If I am being completely honest, I am intimidated by this challenge and am nervous to see how I progress. When I was younger I did play the guitar for a short while, however I found myself getting extremely frustrated when not being able to ace a song in a relatively short time period. So, this time around I am going to try to take some deep breaths, and set scheduled time periods where I sit down and practice. If I get frustrated I will back away for a short time frame and then come back to it for my next scheduled practice. I hope that by the end of term I will not only be able to play the ukulele, but also have a new hobby too.
